From an excellent Bordeaux vintage, the 2009 Château Charmail is a superb example of the rich, generous style that makes Haut-Médoc so appealing.

Predominantly Merlot, supported by Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, it offers ripe blackberry and blackcurrant fruit alongside subtle liquorice, tobacco, coffee and earthy notes. Now beautifully mature, the palate is full-bodied and supple, with silky, well-integrated tannins and a long, savoury finish.

We particularly like its combination of Bordeaux character and immediate drinkability. A rewarding bottle for lovers of mature Claret and an excellent partner for roast lamb, beef, game or mature cheeses.
