The 2017 Sassicaia shows why Tenuta San Guido remains a benchmark in Super-Tuscan winemaking.
A blend of roughly 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc, it delivers an elegant yet intense profile despite a challenging, sun-soaked vintage.
On the nose, expect wild-berry and dark-fruit aromas — think bramble, cherry and plum — layered with Mediterranean herbs, cedar and subtle tobacco. The palate is refined: polished, velvety tannins give structure to ripe cherry/blackcurrant fruit, soft spice, mineral undertones and a long, savoury finish.
A wine of balance and finesse — ideal now if decanted, but with cellaring potential for years to come.
