The 2021 Prunotto Barolo Bussia is a beautifully refined expression of one of Barolo’s most celebrated crus.
Barolo Bussia, comes from the imposing amphitheatre-shaped vineyard in the Bussia Monforte d’Alba area. This historic wine was produced for the first wine in 1961 and it can be considered the first ever Barolo cru to be vinified as a single-vineyard wine. The balance and complexity of the Nebbiolo grapes are enhanced by the vineyards’ south-to-southwest exposure and the traditional ageing in large barrels.
This wine offers captivating aromas of ripe red cherries, wild strawberries, dried rose petals and violets, layered with hints of liquorice, sweet spice and subtle tobacco. The palate is full-bodied yet elegant, with silky tannins, vibrant acidity and remarkable depth, leading to a long, complex finish.
While approachable with careful decanting, its outstanding structure promises excellent cellaring potential. A superb partner for roast beef, game, truffle dishes, braised meats and mature hard cheeses.
