2009 Chateau Branaire Ducru, St Julien

The 2009 Château Branaire‑Ducru from the St Julien appellation showcases classic Left Bank finesse.

It comes from gravelly soils. The blend is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon (65–70%), with Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc completing the mix.

The nose reveals blackcurrant and blueberry, pencil-lead, cedar, and subtle violets with wet earth. The palate delivers dense black fruit, firm yet refined tannins, and bright acidity. This structure gives excellent longevity. It is ready to enjoy now but will cellar well through 2035 or beyond.

It pairs beautifully with grilled beef, lamb, or game. A fine choice for collectors seeking elegance and ageing potential.
