The 2009 Château Branaire‑Ducru from the prestigious St Julien appellation is a textbook example of classic Left Bank finesse.
Sourced from gravelly soils and a blend dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon (around 65–70 %), with Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc completing the mix.
On the nose it offers blackcurrant and blueberry fruit, pencil-lead and cedar notes with subtle floral violets and wet earth. On the palate it shows dense and rich black fruit, supported by firm yet refined tannins and bright acidity, giving it excellent structure and longevity—ripe for drinking, yet built to cellar through 2035 or beyond.
