We are delighted to offer the 2020 Gaudium from Marqués de Cáceres, a flagship Rioja offering of real gravitas. Crafted from ultra-low yield, very old Tempranillo vines (some over 70 years, others pre-phylloxera) grown on calcareous-clay soils in Rioja Alta and Alavesa, this wine bears the mark of precision and ambition.
On the nose you’ll find a dense burgundy colour giving way to layers of ripe black fruit, balsamic herb tones, subtle spice and black pepper. On the palate it is full-bodied yet elegantly poised, delivering round and polished tannins, generous texture and a long, sustained finish of dark fruit, toasty oak and underlying minerality.
This 2020 vintage was vinified with great care (whole-berry fermentation, indigenous yeasts, no pumping, 18+ months in new French oak followed by at least two years in bottle) to ensure executive-class refinement.
