This esteemed wine hails from one of the most prestigious vineyards in the Médoc region, renowned for its consistent quality and rich history. The 2009 vintage is particularly celebrated, benefiting from an exceptional growing season that produced wines of remarkable depth and complexity. Château Talbot, with its storied lineage dating back to the 15th century, exemplifies the best of St. Julien’s terroir. This wine is a blend predominantly of Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot and a touch of Petit Verdot, creating a harmonious balance of power and finesse. In the glass, the 2009 Château Talbot reveals a deep, ruby hue, hinting at its concentration. The nose is a tapestry of blackcurrant, cedar, and subtle floral notes, interwoven with hints of tobacco and leather, reflecting its careful oak aging. On the palate, it is full-bodied and richly textured, with velvety tannins and layers of dark fruit, spice, and minerality leading to a long, elegant finish. This wine is a true gem for collectors and enthusiasts alike, promising great aging potential while being incredibly enjoyable now. Perfect for special occasions or as a centerpiece in a curated collection, the 2009 Château Talbot embodies the grandeur and sophistication of Bordeaux at its finest.

Reviews

Some development at the rim. Light, graphite nose not without its attractions… Very sweet start but lifted and easy and utterly relaxed. Slightly dry tannins on the end. But very solid effort. Nice neat persistence. Date tasted 1st April 2010. Drink 2018-2030. 17 points (out of 20) Jancis Robinson MW
