Sassicaia, one of the most esteemed wines in the world. Sassicaia hails from the Bolgheri region of Tuscany, Italy, and is the flagship wine of Tenuta San Guido. What makes Sassicaia so exceptional is its rich history and unique terroir.
Crafted predominantly from Cabernet Sauvignon and a small percentage of Cabernet Franc, Sassicaia is a pioneer of the “Super Tuscan” movement, which broke away from traditional Italian winemaking norms to create something extraordinary. First released in 1968, it was the vision of Mario Incisa della Rocchetta, who sought to produce a Bordeaux-style wine in Italy. The rocky, gravelly soils of Bolgheri, reminiscent of the Graves region in Bordeaux, provide the perfect environment for these varietals.
